Acer screen (Iconia W510) does not rotate automatically unless re started

is there any permanent fix to this pls. i couldn't find any from Acer

    It happened to my W510 after update to Win 8.1

     

    Checking "Allow the screen to auto-rotate" checkbox on Screen resolution dialog (right click on desktop -> Screen resolution) helped.

     

    Or -are you sure that you have not locked screen rotation (slider button next to the hardware power button on the top side of your W510)?

    Unfortunately, when right clicking on desktop and then selecting screen resolution, the options you refer to are not displayed.

    In orientation, landscape is selected instead of landscape (flipped). Is this the problem?

    In landscape you may need to scroll down in Screen Resolution. It is below orientation. If not you may need to check what video display driver (in Device Manager) you have, it should be from Intel and not Microsoft.
