I just discovered this today.  My front camera has apparently stopped working.  When i go into the camera app, the option to switch cameras is gone.  I also checked the device manager and the 5mp rear camera showed up, but not the 1mp front camera.

any help in fixing this would be greatly appreciated, because i'm stumped lol.  Thank you all for your time Smiley Very Happy.

I have the same problem. The switch button disappeared after upgrading to windows 8.1. Now I can use only the back camera. I tried different settings, searched the web but couldn't find the solution. Can anyone please help?

Same Issue here, front camera does not exist/work anymore after upgrade to Windows 8.1

And my Bluetooth keyboard disappeared ...

    Very frustrating

Seems, no one at Acer ever upgraded to Windows 8.1 on an Acer W700 .... :-(

Otherwise they would have a solution.

I have had no issues with either camera and Windows 8.1... So it should be solvable. I imagine the cameras are viewed as normal USB devices by the OS. Maybe removing them in Device Manager and letting the drivers reinstall? They are listed under Imaging Devices.

fdreesen: Now I discovered that my bluetooth is also not working.

billsey: I would like to try it but I am not sure how as I have never did it myself. Can you please describe in steps how to do it? Thank you!

Sure... From the Desktop pull out the charm bar (swipe in from the right) and click on the search icon (magnifying glass at the top). Type "Device Manager" (without quotes) and it should show up at the left. If it doesn't show click on Settings to force it to look only in Control Panel.

In Device Manager you will be presented with a tree showing all the different pieces of hardware that make up your tablet. Expand the Imaging Devices branch. You should see two entries for cameras, one for the front facing HD web camera and one for the rear facing 5M pixel camera. If you right click on a camera one of the options presented is Uninstall. Go ahead and uninstall the problem camera, making sure the "Delete the driver software for this device" is left unchecked. This will remove the device from the list but leave the software for it intact. Reboot after deleting and see if the camera comes back. If it doesn't go through the process again, but check the box next to "Delete the driver software for this device". Reboot again. This should force Windows to reinstall the software for the camera.

Let us know how it works out, or if the from facing camera is not shown in Device Manager...

    Hi.

Sorry for my late reply. I tried as you described and the front camera is not showing in device manager (only the rear 5M cam). What can I do?

    Thanx, A.

    fdreesen:

If you still have problems with your bloutooth keyboard, follow a few simple steps on below link. It worked for me. Any luck solving the problem with the front camera?

If bluetooth is still not working, the simplest solution should be to open up the charms on the right, press "Settings" > "Change PC settings" > PC and devices > Bluetooth. Make sure it's turned on. If the keyboard is listed, select it and remove it. If the keyboard is on, holding the power button should make the blue LED blink. Release and hold down the power button to put it into pairing mode, which will make both LEDs blink. Select the keyboard and press "Pair".

Unfortunately, if the camera isn't showing up in device manager, it's hard to know what is going on exactly. Something to try would be "Change PC settings" > Privacy > Webcam to check if apps are allowed to access your webcam. Another would be to try both Acer and Windows' Camera Apps. If nothing works, the last resort would be a refresh or even a reset of the computer.
