Black screen of death (Aspire 5552)

Hi Guys,

My Aspire 5552 seems to have died, I have tried to flash the BIOS with not a lot of luck, I did get the machine to boot up once but I don't think this was due to my efforts, just a fluke, I have not been able to repeat it.

If the BIOS will not accept an updated version, is there any point in trying an earlier version?

Also if the BIOS chip itself is on the blink, is there any way to varify this?

The fact that I have managed to wake the system up just the once proves that the rest of the system is still in working order, just that the BIOS is either corrupt or the chip is dieing.

Any help with this would be gratefully recieved.

If you were able to get the system to boot once, it doesn't sound like a BIOS issue.  If the BIOS is corrupt, you wouldn't get the once.

We would suggest contacting technical support in your region for further assistance with this issue.

    Thanks Acer-Tommy,

I have done just that, although I contacted a local man who diagnosed a motherboard failure, managed to repair it, and I am up and running again.

It prompted me to do recovery disks and loads of back-ups, an ill wind as they say.

    Thanks againSmiley Happy
