Hello everyone, happy new years!

I have a acer v5

SN:***

Model:Aspire V5-571P

SNID:***

It came with windows 8.0 (normal, not pro)

installed ISO 8.1 Pro Preview Build 9431

Now windows says :'' You are on a evaluation copy, blablabla,so windows will restart often, blablabla

            Get Windows               Close ''

If I click Get Windows it brings me in the store to the 8.1 download

I already asked Microsoft what would happen: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows8_1-windows_install/windows-81-pro-preview-to-windows-81-questions/7a35b99c-5417-4d97-b4b9-0c680971bb17

Since I don't want to pay I want to go back to 8.0 using the OEM partition.

The Alt + F10 trick dosent work for me.

Soooooooooooo I dont have any acer preloaded software.

Soooooooooooooooooo can someone help me with my delema.

Thank you

Matthew

Welcome aboard, Malbert. I'm having trouble finding how to get out of the 8.1 Preview version.  Microsoft admits that getting out of 8.1's full version is difficult, but let's give it a try anyway.

Tap or click the bottom-right corner of the desktop (or swipe in from the right edge of the Start screen), select the gear-shaped Settings icon, and then select "Change PC settings."

In that screen, click or tap "Update and recovery," choose the Recovery option and proceed with a refresh from there. The computer will use the hard drive's system-recovery partition to put things back as they were when you took the computer out of the box, plus your own data.

Unfortunately, I have found three sites that state that Windows 8.1 Preview cannot be uninstalled. MS advised you when installing the preview to make a backup on a thumb drive. If you didn't do this, the best thing to do now is to upgrade to 8.1. Don't despair. New drivers and updates are appearing regularly, and over time, 8.1 will start running better.

    Am I really stuck?

Can I find a wni 8 instalation media and install it over everithing and it will recognise my key?

Matthew, I'm afraid that you can't. When you installed the 8.1 Preview, it erased your restoration disk. You'll have to purchase the full version of 8.1.

I need to explain to anyone reading this thread that laptops are far more finicky than desktops. When you install a new operating system, you delete all your drivers and are running on generic drivers. In addition, you have probably deleted your restoration disk.

Some people upgrade their laptop OS with no problems, and others can't even get into it. In general, it is a bad idea.

    Ok, Smiley Sad

If I buy Windows 8 install media will it recognize my key (the pre-loaded one) or it is gone?

And is there a way to get from acer all the pre loaded software?

    Thank you very much.

    @malbert

Just to add on to what Vince has helped you with so far, you can contact our Acer Store and they may be able to help you get recovery media cheaper than anywhere else. Also, this media would definitely work with the OEM Windows Key that injected into your motherboard.

    Hope this helps,
    Cory
