Acer iconia w3 limited internet connection
I have 4 out of 5 wifi bars on my iconia w3, but it comes up limited. I cannot get on the internet or any thing. Any ideas? I tried going into the device manager and disabling minimum power cunsumption, but it only worked the first time. I will be on the internet, and it will quit and say that there is no cnnection. I sit about 5 feet from the router, but with no luck.

That can happen if the router loses connection as well. Can you ping the router ?

My win8 laptop will connect and my PC will work, but my tablet only works some of the time. The router is fine,just something with the tablet. Right now, it has 5 out of 5 bars, but has a caution symbol under it and says "limited".

Right click the network icon and open the Network and Sharing Center. Click on the link for your network and look at Details. Your IPv4 address shouldn't be 169.x.x.x. If it does have a 169 address you are not getting a lease from the router. The router may be configure to allow for too few leases.

OK, the next step is to verify the DNS is working. Open a command prompt (you can do that easily by using the search feature of your charm bar, swipe in from the right, click the magnifying glass and type 'command' at the prompt) and type:
nslookup www.google.com

I'd open a DOS box (CMD) and run ipconfig/all, that should identify the network configuration and whether you have DNS servers in reach.

It looks like you are using your router as the DNS server. This isn't uncommon with consumer routers. Sometimes the routers get a little confused, especially when they have been up and running for a while. Try doing a power cycle, letting the router sit unpowered for at least 30 seconds. Try again after the router is back on.

Then it sounds like you are communicating with your router but it not making a connection with your provider.
Try this: open a DOS box and enter Tracert 98.139.183.24 and see how far it gets (yahoo.com IP). It will take a while and if some are just "*" don't worry.

Bring your router up in a web browser (you will need its password) and look to see what its status is. Typically one of the values shown is the default gateway. Try to ping that... (The default gateway is the first device on your providers network)

You may need a 15-year-old. To bring up in a brouser you normally just type in the IP address (list as Gateway in IPCONFIG ) into the URL space.

As Padgett suggested you might have to find a 15 year old to do it for you. :-) Most consumer routers are at either 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1. Type the address into your browser's address bar (not into Google or Bing or whatever search engine) and press return. You should get a login prompt.
