Acer wifi limited connectivity issue!

Ok this one is for the books...

I have an  Acer Aspire 5233-BZ893 which I will call OLD computer.

I also just bought a Aspire V3 731-4634, I will call this NEw computer

        I use a Belkin wifi

        Ok here it goes,

I started the new computer and it runs fine and connects fine to the internet,

I started the old computer and all I did to it was remove the startup password so my kids can start using it.

Now I have limited no internet activity! Never had any issues with this. DO not know why!

any way, I did the acer recovery for the drivers, did the remove the card on device manger and reboot and reinstall.

Still nothing! I am losing whatever hair I have left. I even installed the latest drivers for the Atheos card.

         Please help.

I'm just not sure at this point. I dont think you have a hardware issue since you're able to make a connection, but there are nearly limitless possibilities as to what software/setting could be causing this issue. I would recommend fully restoring the system. You'd want to back up anything on the machine you don't want to lose, but it will resolve the issue, or more confidently help you diagnosis a potential HW problem if you continue to have issues right after the restore.

I'm not following which computer or if both are having this issue?

It may also be worth looking into updating the firmware of your router to reduce compatibility issues, though doesn't exactly apply if we're talking about your AS5233.

You mean the Acer? No it does not. As I said I never had any issues. The NEW acer works fine. My OLD acer is the one acting up. And when I mean old it is is only 2 years old. So it must be something simple. The windows diagnostics says the wirelss wifi card has no issues. But I am stumped at what else to do. I even used the recovery by going back to the settings of  a few days in the past. Please help and thanks all!!

Check your router settings, this is a router issue and not a computer issue

    Good luck

Thanks for the input...but if it was a router issue, why is the new computer working fine?

i have the same problem mate, the old computer has not compability with security thing maybe ot something similar it is not a big deal, just check the power tab in wifi properties and disable "allow this computer to turn off this device"

    Good Luck

Try this and tell was what you get,

    1. Go into Network and Sharing Center
    2. In the left side nav, go to Manage wireless networks
    3. If your network is listed there, remove it and the reboot.

I'm interested to see if you still have some old network data in there, and if so clearing it out makes any difference for you.

    Thanks,
    Cory

Thanks for the reply..Unable to find the disconnect wifi setup you mentioned. What I did do is I tried to connect to another wifi router and I have the same problem, which confirms it is my acer computer again.

Cory..thanks for the reply ...I did as you asked..still no luck!

I tried to tie into another network router card and still no luck. My other newer acer works fine on all systems.

So its my "older" acer that has an issue. I bought it in 2011, so its not that old. Never had any issued until yesterday.

                   Please help and thanks

There clearly was some setting causing an issue. At a certain point it's just more frustrating to try and troubleshoot that and it is to just reinstall everything like you did. Glad to hear you're back up and running.
