Which Windows 8.1 version?

Hi guys,

I've got an Acer Aspire S7-391 which came with Windows 8 pre-installed.

I made a note of the CD-KEY using Key Finder and took the plunge of completely wiping my Ultrabook - including all the hidden recovery partitions.

I've installed both the Core edition and Enterprise Edition 8.1, but it says my CD-KEY is not valid for that version of Windows.

Does anyone know what version of Windows comes pre-installed, so that I can use my CD-KEY??

Thanks

Dan

danlat1415 8.1 version can be installed in the store so you dont have to wipe everything. Just update your OS

Thanks, but I don't like updating Operating Systems. They leave a lot of unwanted stuff behind slowing down the system and sometimes cause issues.

Always prefer to do a full clean install.

Do you know what version is pre-installed?

I've already wiped my system and installed a version on 8.1 but won't activate because it's not the same version that the key relates to.

  • The key is embedded in your system and will only work with the OS provided with your machine by Acer.

As you have erased the HDD, you will need to contact Acer for recovery disk(s). I am unsure of the cost.

Alternatively, you can purchase a retail version and use the key that comes with that copy.

I've worked out it's the OEM Core x64 Edition.

Sorted now, managed to reload system and use my CD Key.
