Aspire 5670 sound problems

Hi,

Recently inherited an Aspire 5670 laptop.  All seems to be working fine except for the sound.  If I'm playing a song on itunes for example and then open another program the song will become very crackly and will sound if it's being played slowly.  Any thoughts on what might cause this?  Could it be a problem with the sound card or its it an graphics card issue?  I've tried to update the divers for both but this doesn't seem to have made a difference and I've also adjusted the pf file.  Is there a way to increase the RAM allocated to or used by the gfx card (you can tell that I'm clutching at straws here).

Any help would be much appreciated.

Rob

    Hi Rob!

Try some headphones to see if the crackly sound is reproduced. If all is good via headphones, then I'd suggest there is a problem with the speakers. If they headphone sound is as bad as the speakers, then you may have a fault with your sound card.

One (bit of a long shot) thing to try is to reinstall Windows from the recovery partition to see if that helps, otherwise your local PC store may well be able to replace the sound card or the speakers!

Thanks Finlux.  In the end I saw a suggestion on another site to uninstall the primary IDE (I uninstalled the secondary IDE for good measure as well).  This seems to have totally sorted out the problem.
