Hi There

Just wondering the maximum memory the motherboard of my laptop can support? It currently has 2 x 4GB modules = *GB Total. If I replace these with 2 x 8GB = 16GB total will the motherboard/windows regonise it?

OS: Windows 7 - Professional 64 bit ( so no issues with max there)

Cheers Todd

Welcome aboard, Todd. To answer your question, we need the full model number of your laptop. If this is not the original motherboard, we need the full model number of the motherboard.

Todd, they had to edit out your serial number so someone couldn't counterfeit it. There should be a sticker on the front of your laptop with the full model number of your machine.

No Prob. Posted because Model number was tricky to read and I couldn't find it via software, but I think it's:

    5760G-52454G5UMTSK

    Manafacture date: 2012/03/14

Todd, you have an obscure version of this particular model. I found reviews of four different versions of the Aspire 5760G. All came with 4 gigs of RAM, two can be upgraded to 8 gigs, and two don't say.

But looking at the specs, I feel that you won't get much by upgrading. One of the surprising secrets of modern technology is that a dual-core CPU with 2 gigs of RAM is about as fast as you can get, unless you are playing high-end games. I would leave it as it is.

Thanks Vince - yeah that's all good, I found the same info. I Was hoping an Acer rep might churp in with a defenitive answer.

I'm video editing with Adobe Premiere CS6, so most of the time its running at 100% utilisation of the CPU & Memory. So the 16GB upgrade could make all the difference.

    Cheers
