Is anyone else have an issue with general slowness on boot up after an 8.1 upgrade?

I've checked all drivers are upto date - anyone any ideas or help?

Thank

The following explains my horrendous experience both in terms of the product itself and your shocking customer service. Regrettably, in January 2013 I bought an Acer notebook in the UK for £650. After 6 months I travelled back to my home country, Turkey, where the laptop (through no fault of my own) suddenly crashed, due to hardware errors. I had to wait three months until I returned back to the UK, where I am a student, so I could return the laptop to Acer for repair. When they received the laptop I phoned them to see what was wrong with it, and they told me “we couldn’t detect any misuse or damage, so your warranty covers this, you will not be charged, your laptop will be returned within 5-10 days”. When I asked the maximum time my laptop would take to repair the rude and patronizing woman on the phone replied “one month”. Days passed, then so did weeks, and nobody from Acer contacted me about the progress of my laptop. So I decided to call them and ask where it was. They then explained that they had detected damage to the case, and so I would be charged. However, they continuously failed to inform me what kind of damage had been detected and how I should even go about paying for it. Each time I contacted them they said “we need to find out what damage there is and we’ll call you back”, nobody ever replied. After tirelessly chasing up the progress of my laptop and never receiving a straight answer this not only left extremely frustrated, but my phone bill soon began to mount due to being an international student in the UK. In order to temporarily resolve the situation of having no laptop to study with or Skype my family during term time at university, I purchased a Samsung tablet. 3 weeks later I was the victim of a mugging where my tablet was stolen which left me without any form of communication with my family or any means to study. I then chased Acer up AGAIN (I’ve lost track of how many times now) they then agreed to fix my laptop free of charge and return it to me in a week. I told them my UK address that I would like it returned to just to ensure they had not forgotten. (They already knew my contact details and UK address as they had picked up the laptop from there in the first instance). They then verified my contact address. A week has now passed and still no laptop, so I called them AGAIN at my own expense to which they told me my laptop had been posted back to Turkey!! It was shipped by UPS and they told me I am responsible for the shipping expenses (£300 each way) First of all, £600 is an absolutely extortionate amount for shipping expenses which makes me think they are taking advantage of the fact that I am foreign and of the language barrier, and second, why should I be responsible for the costs when they have made a complete mess of the whole situation which was covered by warranty in the first place! Acer have provided me with the WORST customer service I have ever encountered and I will never buy from them again. I refuse to pay £600 for shipping costs FOR THEIR MISTAKE, and so I am resorting to buying a brand new laptop from hopefully a more reputable brand. Acer need to take responsibility for their disgusting customer service and the 5 months I was left without a laptop, and for effectively casting me aside.

Yeah, I'm not able to use my USB drives at all.. I troubleshoot and it says I am missing the "base system device" driver. The online tech support dude didn't do anything because that problems apparantly not under warranty.. pff some support program eh Smiley Wink  I downloaded and installed the "broadcom card reader" directly from this site and still nothing.. I'm getting rather frustrated as I run the majority of my programs through my my usb hard drive, also all of my music editing/recording equipment connects usb.. If you find anything out let me know and I'll do the same!
