It sounds like you've confirmed that the hard drive is dead!

You can buy a new hard drive either at a local PC store or even online, like Amazon, amongst others. Go for a similar or greater size than your existing one. The size is denoted in GB, E.g., 250GB, 500GB etc.

Fitting the hard drive is very straight forward as you've probably noticed. You will need to remove the old hard drive from the caddy via the screws on the side. Take out the old, fit in the new then replace inside your laptop. Once fitted, you will need to reinstall WIndows from your recovery disks. If you didn't make any, they may be available to purchase from Acer support for your region.

Once completed, you will need to install Windows updates, your Anti virus and other programs, then any documents you previously backed up.

    Hi rayu1988

It sounds as if you have a hard drive problem. You need to check a few things:

    1. Boot into BIOS and check to see if the hard drive is "seen" by the computer. Also check that your BIOS settings are set to boot from your HD.

    2. Remove the hard drive cover from the base of your laptop, and make sure it is connected OK

    3. If you can, try connecting the hard drive to another PC to see if it is accessible. Use a Linux Live CD if this is not possible.

If the hard drive is not seen, or if it is not accessible, then it may have failed. Buy a new hard drive, and reinstall Windows from your Recovery DVD's.

If all appears OK, then you may have another problem. You local PC store should be able to help.

    Hello again!

Item 4, is your hard drive location. Any hardware or PC store will sell a screwdriver small enough to use with it. Let us know how you get on!

To be exact screwing and unscrewing the hard disk didn't fix the problem
