Acer has a list of computers that can upgrade to Windows 8. They also have what is called an Assistant Tool to make sure you have all the drivers and Bios updates to do this. Here is the link.

Thank you but i have already tried that but 3820tg is not in the list. Still I find it hard to believe that its impossible to update to win8. Everything seems to work fine except from the graphic drivers. Someone who has got it to work?

You might want to post a screenshot of results of Upgrade Advisor. That way people will know exactly what is the problem.

If your comptuer is not on the list, then it is not available for window 8. It does not meet the hardware requirements to run windows 8.

I'm trying to install drivers for ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470. I have found the drivers on amd's homepage. http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonmob_win7-64.aspx
What happens is that a message is shown after installation saying something like "incompatible hardware/software on computer". I'm 100% sure that it is the correct graphic card.

Well, I think the only way is to reinstall win7 then...

Good day
1. First run this to detect your hardware: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/auto_detect.aspx
2. If your are using Windows 8 64Bit, you should be installing: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonaiw_win8-64.aspx
3. If you are using 32Bit you should be using: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonaiw_win8-32.aspx
PS. I have Aspire 3820TG and runs super well on Windows 8 64Bit. The only difference is I have Radeon 6370M GPU.

I have tried that and thats when I get the message "incompatible harware/software, there is no support for the version of your graphics adapter"

This is the only things I can suggest:
1. update the bios to 1.19
2. Try and install my GPU driver 6370M, even if you dont have this, but try it.

You could attempt to change your graphics option in the BIOS to discrete prior to attempting to install the graphics driver. Please see this helpful article: http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/26985/

Problem solved. I changed bios graphic settings from switchable to discrete and then installed AMD Catalyst.
