Is Intel Widi supported?

I've seen it somewhere in the specs, but can't get it to work!?

Thanks,

  • Unfortunately, I don't believe it is.

You can check the system requirements here:

The list of Wireless hardware is restricted to Intel and Broadcom. While I don't have the info to hand, I think you have Atheros WiFi.

    unfortunately, I do!

Which Model has an Intel chipset, is it even possible to know?

    Thx,

  • I have checked a number of Acer models and found many that have an Intel chipset.

    M5-581, M5-481, S7-391 and V3-471 use the Mobile Intel HM77 Express Chipset.

V5-571 has Mobile Intel HM70/HM77 Express Chipset.

However whether these are supported or not needs to be confirmed.

To check your laptop for chipset suitability, you can run 'Intel System Identification Utility':

Thanks, but I rather meant a Model of Aspire V5-573G (I have heard that different WiFi cards are used, and the acer driver page also has drivers either for broadcom, atheros or Intel)

Is there a version of V5-573G which has an Intel chipset?

    Thanks a lot,

  • I have been unable to find any in depth information on your model. I cannot determine which chipset is employed in any given V5 variant.

Clearly the driver list confirms the use of a number of Wife cards but which variant they are in is a mystery. Of course it may be that Acre used whichever card was available at the time of production and not that a particular variant always used a specific card.
