extended battery pack for Aspire S7

Hi,

I've seen in many reviews that there is going to be an extended battery pack for Aspire S7 series. In Acer Aspire S7's users manual, it is mentioned as there is an extended battery pack for this ultrabook. But, I can't find it anywhere, not in Acer's online store nor in other retailer's we pages.  I use this computer at school and I need longer battery life.

Well I think they shouldn't have been advertising it in the very beginning if they were not gonna produce it.

Anyone know when or if Acer is going to sell it?

Cheers,

John

I have read that it is "planned" to be released at some point in time.  I have been wondering when for a month or two now, and there hasnt' been a peep.  My choice to buy the S7 over the Ideapad Yoga13 hinged almost completely on the fact that there would be an extended battery back at some point in time.  While I do love the S7, the weak keyboard and battery life are a concern.

Hopefully they release some information soon™, othwise if Lenovo puts out a new Yoga in 6 months, I have have to sell my Acer.

Think the battery packs have already being produced.Watch this video till the end.

Funny that with the battery pack, acr has the longest battery life. Also i present battery back's compared to slice battery since it actually makes the laptop easier to type on.

    I too am wondering this.

Acer - WHERE IS THE EXTERNAL BATTERY FOR THE ACER S7-391?

That is the only reason I bought this laptop - in hopes that the external battery would help in countering the horrid battery life.

I've already seen photos of the battery for the S7-391, it must be imminent.  I just don't know if it will be sold separately.  There are already some photos on some european sites

As with the proper AC Adapter for the S7-391, I too am looking for the Extended Battery pack.  Seems like another indication the S7-391 was rushed to market before fully ready.  I love the machine, but disappointed that no accessories are ready and Wi-Fi is problematic.  For such a high end ultrabook, it should not be this way, Acer.

Any news about the battery pack? For us, 1 or 2 potential aspire s7 purchases (maybe more later) are hinging on the future availability of the battery: if it's in the pipe, we're sold. Otherwise, it'll be the Macbook Air.

We don't need it now, but can you confirm that the pack is coming out soon?

The whole accessory issue is a disaster to be honest.

The manual specifically mentions a connector on the side of the S7 for a battery yet nobody can answer when or if this battery will appear.

But not only that, many people want 2 power supplies, one for a permanent fitting on their desk, and another for travel. You can't even buy a second power supply right now.

Want a replacement white bluetooth mouse that matches the laptop as supplied with the S7? You can't buy it separately. In fact, my one arrived with a crack in the right mouse button and Acer can't supply a replacement.

Finally, the extended battery is now available in Taiwan. Many online stores are listing it for NT$3800,which is about USD$120 (http://shopping.pchome.com.tw/?mod=item&func=exhibit&IT_NO=DHAE6R-172637582). Not exactly cheap and it's not clear how long it can sustain the S7. But I will buy it any way.

I do have to make a complaint about Acer's service. I called their customer service about 40 days ago and ask them to contact me the moment this extended battery is available for sale. Now the battery is all over the places, but I haven't heard nothing from their customer service. It's not a big deal. But it does show their attitude is sub-par. They should have given us the expected date of availability when we first contacted them. And they should have keep our email addresses in a mailing list, to keep us updated. I am disappointed that they did none of that and seemed indifferent to our needs.

Acer, I hope you are listening. I am a Taiwanese, I will support you no matter what. But the rest of the world won't. Please get your act together and give us the service that is on par with the design of this beautiful ultrabook S7.

Based on the capacity of the extended battery, it looks to add just under 50% to the current run-time.

Does this battery pack need a separate wire from the DC out into the system, seems unintuitive. Thought the battery will just directly plug in into the DC jack.

The user guide shows the S7 as having a special connector for the external battery. Normally you do not use the DC jack, because then the external battery will actually start to charge the internal one, which isn't what you want.

I had several rounds of emails to Singapore customer service department about the extended battery pack shown in the Taiwan store, to answer the question about it being Acer or 3rd Party and had the following response:

"It is our product but we are not carrying it in Singapore"

I dont know why they dont carry it (maybe too new?) but it is Acer

I have tried to order through the PCHome web page using Google Translate but it doesnt seem to translate anything once you enter the store (https causing a problem?).  Has anyone found any other sites offering this product?

    http://global.pchome.com.tw/english/?m=item&f=exhibit&IT_NO=DHAE6J-172362776&SR_NO=SFAU00&tm=e

The global version of the site seems to have it, but I cant figure out how to JUST add the battery to the cart without ordering the whole laptop. Maybe if you log in...

The fact that we have to order it from an overseas site is sort of ridiculous.

The global site seems to have the  battery as a addon. This option is even there in amazon, though the global pchome allows you to choose the number of extended batteries. Anyone had any luck ordering from the native taiwanese pchome site.Do they ship gobally ?
