Aspire z5101 does not wake from sleep (windows 8)

I have an Aspire z5101 all in one, I installed Windows 8 on it. Just about everything is working, exept the touch screen (there's another thread on that) and a problem with waking from sleep.

I can put the machine to sleep an the power button starts flashing, as it shoudl. But when I wake it by pressing the power button, I hear the fan spin up, the power button stops flasing (goes solid), but the screen never comes back. Once it's in that state, kitting the keyboard does nothing, and if I try to toggle caps lock (to see if the keyboard is responsive) the  caps lock light goes on, then sticks there.

I am also unable to ping the machine when it's in this state, so it's not just a matter of the scen not coming on, the mahcine is not waking fully.

Anyone alse see this? Any suggestions?

Did the machine come with Windows 8, or did you upgrade the OS that was on it? There is an issue with the Microsoft OS and not waking in Windows 7, but that is usually resolved in software config. The only other thing I can think of is that it is a part of the touch screen drivers. Try installing the touch screen drivers from the support website to see if that resolves this issue. Let us know what happens.

The machine originally had windows 7, but I put in a new drive and did a fresh install of windows 8.

The support website doesn't have any windows 8 drivers for this machine, so I can't get touch drivers from there.

Try the windows 7 drivers. See if that works. I do know that Acer is working on the windows 8 drivers, but they are not going to be able to help you with the operating system since this was a fresh install.

Which driver am I looking for. Or more to the point, what device am I looking for a driver for? I would have expected the touch screen to show up as an HID device, but I don't see anything useful in the device manager.

The Acer driver dowload site has drivers fr this machine for the following:

Chipset, Audio, Modem, TV Tuner, VGA (sevral of these), and Wireless Lan

None of those seem like drivers for a touch device.
