HELP- emachine 725, Black screen

in 2013 Archives
It powers on but screen is black, can not do anything. Whats wrong ? How can I fix it ? How or where can I get updates on bios ? Any information or help would gratefully be appreciated. Thank You

    Hi Linda

     

    When you say the screen is black, do you mean the screen actually lights up but there is nothing displayed or is it that the screen remains off, but the fan/hard drive powers on?

     

    Does the "e" logo appear when you switch on?

    You may try a power reset.

    To perform a power reset:

    1. Unplug the AC adapter from your notebook.
    2. Turn the notebook over to remove the battery.
      Turn the notebook back over and open it.
    3. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds, then release the power button.
    4. Turn the notebook back over and slide the battery back into place.
    5. Slide the lock tab back into the lock position.
    6. Turn over the notebook one last time and plug in your AC adapter.
    7. Turn on your notebook.

    Hi finlux and Sharanji , Yes it powers on fan/hard drive. For a half sec a light flash on the screen, then black, no display no logo, nothing. : ( But powers on.. Yes I tried the power reset, did not work. I will try again. Thank you so much for your responses and help. So please let me see more.

    Hi Linda

    I have a feeling the motherboard may be dead!
    You could take it to your local PC store to confirm, but those are classic symtoms.
