W700 - Skype fail with Windows 8.1

Just gave it another go with W8.1 and every thing seems to be OK and smooth now.

Only Skype refuses to load, I get the blue loading screen and after a few seconds it closes.

there is a problem with the cam drivers. if we diasable/deactivate them in device manager, skype starts fine.

the weird thing is in all other apps the cams work properly.

I would recommend uninstalling Skype and reinstalling from the Windows Store.

Please let us know if that works for you.

    I did that 4x.

The last time I updated to 8.1 from a clean W8 without skipe, but it failed to load. I uninstalled Skype and dl it from the store again and again.

Now I use the desktop skype for the time being.

I'm sorry, I should have been a bit more specific.

Do you have the model part number?

or can you send me the serial number / SNID in a private message?

I want to make sure that I'm understanding what is being stated here.

When you say "clean W8" do you mean an Acer Recovery was used on the system, or do you mean that you installed from a retail Windows 8 media?

Acer recovery + all windows updates, after that 8.1 from the store and all updates.

    I'll try, thx

Disabled the front 5M cam and Skype works now. Hope there will be a fix for this in the near future.

Can't believe I'm the only one.

    Thx for your help

Thank you for your input!  I'm glad that you were able to find a work around for the moment.

    This will certainly be escalated.

We are collecting data on Windows 8.1 issues and getting them addressed as best we can.

thank you very much. but really weird right, cam works fine in all other apps, skype is a special section in win 8.1, perhaps a special section for adressing issues ;-)

if we can provide more info pls let us know
