My nitro 5 only 2 years old has shut off during playing a game and won’t turn on?! No signs of life.

My Nitro 5 model AN515-57-537Y-US shut off while playing a game randomly and now it won’t turn on. No charging lights or anything just completely bricked. Terrible. I looked up some other posts that suggested I unplug the main battery, mb, and cops battery and wait for a bit. I left it like that overnight and still nothing. I then tried shorting the cmos battery that I saw in another post but still nothing. I can’t believe this is the shortest lifespan of any laptop I’ve owned. Are there any other methods to fix this issue that don’t require me just paying a technician to fix it? I’m not particularly technically capable but I can’t try certain fixes if it is explained to me. I’m just bummed right now.

    Hi GartAndy,

Given there are no LEDs or signs of life, this points to a possible power rail / EC issue rather than a simple RAM fault. At this stage, the safest next step is to have the unit checked by an Acer‑endorsed repair shop so they can test the power supply board and related circuits. Be sure to bring the power adapter with you so they can verify it under load.

If you’d like to do a quick check before heading in:

    1. Test the adapter output with a multimeter — it should read close to 19 V DC.
    2. If you don’t have a meter, try another known‑good adapter that is compatible with your Nitro 5 (same voltage, equal or higher amperage, correct barrel size).

If the adapter is fine and the laptop still shows no LEDs, it’s almost certainly a board‑level repair that requires service tools and expertise.
