BIOS Reset - Acer Aspire 3 A315-41

Apparently I set a BIOS password years ago, which I forgot. Currently trying to install a different OS and I need to get into the BIOS to do so. I attempted the paperclip trick in the little hole on the bottom but the password won’t reset. Also tried tearing the entire machine apart and disconnecting the CMOS battery for several minutes but that didn’t reset it either. Does anyone have any other ideas?

Hi, the paperclip battery reset routine won't work and removing the CMOS battery neither. What you need to do is contact Acer Services in your country and book a visit to their shop, bring proof of purchase and ask to reset the BIOS password for a small service fee or if the EEPROM needs to be replaced that will be charged extra.

The bios password once set, is embedded into the bios chip program and you need the password that you set to unlock the bios or a special tool to reprogram the bios or change the bios chip. Acer community rules forbid any guides on bios or windows or any password changing guides. You need to take your Acer product to Acer Tech Support in your country or a tech that can change this bios password. Good luck and hope this helps you out.
