is there a cheap way of getting a new operating system on my Chromebook I hate it I hate only having one browser the Android apps will not work have the time but I do not want to have to take the back or my laptop

    Unfortunately, most Chromebooks—especially those without developer mode enabled or RW_LEGACY firmware support—don’t allow alternative operating systems to be installed. Since you mentioned not wanting to open the device or modify the firmware, options like GalliumOS, CloudReady, or full Linux installs are off the table.

    If Android apps are unstable and browser limitations are affecting your workflow, the most practical solution is to sell the Chromebook and invest in a budget Windows laptop. Even entry-level models now offer:

    • Full browser support (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, etc.)
    • Stable access to Android apps via emulators like BlueStacks
