I've got three computers on the same network, all with the same workgroup name.

Acer AV14-51 wireless Win 11 pro

Thinkpad wireless Win 10 pro

HP desktop PC ethernet Win 10 pro

The AV14 vero cannot see the desktop PC.

The AV14 vero can access files on the Thinkpad. The Thinkpad and PC can access each other's files, as well as files on the AV14 vero.

I tried an ethernet adapter in the AV14' USB-C port, but still cannot view the desktop PC on the network.

I've tried a lot of stuff to fix it. Network settings are private network, not pubic.

I've reset network settings, turned on a bunch of services to automatic. Rebooted my eero 6+ router. Ran network diagonstics which indicates everything is fine.

Have a look at this PCWorld guide HERE as its a very useful guide and start again from scratch, as a host desktop to 2x laptops in a private is a basic and simple network and it should work 100% and properly all the time and should be very easy to setup. You must have done something wrong, as these things can't be diagnosed and/or pinpointed over a forum to give you a precise solutions, as there are allot of variables, Good luck and hope this helps you out.

    Summary

    1. Connect all computers to the same network.
    2. Enable network discovery.
    3. Turn on file and printer sharing.
    4. Share folders or printers.
    5. Access shared resources through File Explorer.

Thank you StevenGen. There is a lot of info all in one place in that link. I've done all of that, but I need to do it again. I suspect it may be my router. I appreciate your reply.

I tried everything in that link and more. Changed the name of the desktop PC, made changes in netplwiz, ran SFC, and don't have a solution yet. I might try a different router, because this isn't an Acer issue, I just happen to run into the problem because I'm using it.

The other laptop is on windows 10 and I had already been able to network that with the desktop PC before I purchased the Acer. I had to reinstall Windows on the Acer because I plugged in an older USB drive which completely borked the system which I could not repair to start windows.

I've wasted too much of my life troubleshooting windows since it's inception. Thanks Bill. Also had the apple II, moved to windows due to my work application.

OK. I did everything mentioned I could find. The Acer is running Win 11 Pro Ver 24H2. My HP desktop PC running Win 10 Pro can view the Acer through the network explorer, but the Acer cannot view the HP desktop.

However, I can ping the HP desktop both by IP and just by its name. Netbios is enable on both computers.

Here is the workaround that works for me.

    https://www.tenforums.com/network-sharing/219079-other-computers-not-visible-network-after-upgrade-windows-11-a-2.html#post2682130

created a shortcut, right click and select new and then create shortcut and in the box for location of item type \\name of the computer you are trying to reach which in my case is \\hpg1

then just click on the shortcut

Others report the same issue after upgrading to 24H2, and I think just in general for perhaps other reasons.

Why don't urls typed in on this forum automatically display as links?
