The Acer Veriton X2611 uses an LGA 1155 socket with Intel H61 chipset, so it supports 3rd-gen Intel Core CPUs (i3, i5, i7) along with some Pentium and Celeron models. The Core i7-3770 is the best upgrade option many users go for.

If I upgrade to i7 3770 do I need to update the bios?

No, you don’t need to update the BIOS for the i7-3770. The Acer Veriton X2611 already supports 3rd-gen Intel Core processors on the LGA 1155 socket with the H61 chipset, so the i7-3770 will work fine out of the box. Just make sure you use a good thermal paste and proper cooling, and you’ll be good to go.
