Add and remove hardware sound repeatedly in sleepmode on New Acer Aspire TC 1785

I have had my new pc (Acer Aspire TC 1785) one week and as soon as it goes into sleepmode it repeatedly makes the add and remove hardware notification sound until it goes into hibernation. If it doesn't go into hibernation it will do it all night. It doesn't do it all when I'm using the PC. Its so annoying I have had to unplug the speakers so my PC is muted. I have repeatedly checked all the drivers for everything, unplugged things to check if it the key board, mouse, speakers, printed and monitor. Nothing helps.

    Hi Enchanted68

I’m not familiar with that specific sound bite, but it does sound like rogue software or a corrupted process could be behind it.

Best next step: perform an In‑place Recovery using Windows Update — this will refresh Windows system files without touching your personal data or installed apps.

How to do it (Windows 11 23H2 or later):

    1. Go to SettingsSystemRecovery.
    2. Under Fix problems using Windows Update, click Reinstall now.
    3. Follow the on‑screen prompts until the process completes.

If the issue persists, consider a Clean Install of Windows for a completely fresh start:

    • Back up all personal files.
    • Create installation media with Microsoft’s Windows 11 Media Creation Tool.
    • Boot from the USB, choose Custom Install, delete existing partitions, and install Windows on the unallocated space.

A clean install wipes all remnants of rogue software and ensures you’re starting from a known‑good state.

Thank you for your advice. Sadly I re-installed windows 11 as suggested and it didn't work - I still have the same problem. I don't feel confident enough or have the energy for the 2nd option given I have only just set the PC a week ago. I've switched the sound off until I can find someone more computer savvy than me to have a look for me.
