Welcome aboard, Jprice. Can you give us the complete model number of your laptop and your operating system?

    Unnecessary,

You're using the wrong key combination. It's ALT F10, not ALT F1.

    Hope this helps!

    Take care,

Jprice, to find your Acer folder, use your Start Button and check Programs. If you still can't find it, try Search. If all else fails, go into My Computer, chose your C drive, and check there. You might have to go into Program Files when you get to your C drive.

    Hi...

Use the following steps to start the system recovery:

    1. Restart the computer.
    2. When the Acer logo appears on the screen, press the left Alt, and the F10 keys.
    3. If you are prompted with a Microsoft Windows boot screen, press the Enter key.
    4. After the Acer eRecovery Management application has loaded, select your restore type.
    5. Read the notice, and then click Next when you are ready.
    6. Click Next to begin the restore process.

The acer folder is nowhere in program files

You're absolutely right, it's not in program files, which is in the C: drive. It's under Programs in the start menu. Regardless you're making this a much bigger deal than it needs to be. Do the ALT F10 steps to do a recovery from out of Windows. If that doesn't work you'll need recovery disks (which you can't get from Acer considering you have xp) and an external cd drive.

Have you tried clicking the Start Button and then going through Programs? If that doesn't work, use the Search function. If that doesn't work, go back to My Computer, C Drive, and check the Windows files (where it is not supposed to be).

If all else fails, go to  http://sourceforge.net/projects/swiftsearch/  and download their free SwiftSearch program. Buddy, that program finds everything.
