If Acer NitroSense isn't detecting your CPU speed, you should first try restarting your computer and then rebuilding the Windows performance counters by opening an administrator Command Prompt and typing lodctr /R. If that doesn't resolve the issue, the next step is to uninstall and reinstall Nitro Sense, ensuring you download the latest version from Acer's official drivers and manuals site for your specific model.

Hi compguy, just to follow up—I’ve attached a screenshot of my current Power Options > Advanced Settings setup under the Balanced [Active] plan.

    🔧 What’s shown:

    • Processor performance boost mode is set to Disabled for both “On battery” and “Plugged in.”
    • This can reduce sudden CPU bursts and prevent the GPU fan from ramping up aggressively, especially when NitroSense misreads metrics.

This change has helped keep my system quieter on Best Power Efficiency and Balanced modes. Let me know if this stabilizes fan behavior on your end.

@Puraw I DONT HAVE THIS CHOICE IN THE POWER MANAGMENT

Hi, then it is hidden and you need to change the value from 1 (hide) to 2 (unhide) in the registry with Regedit.exe

    Turbo boost reg.jpg

After you change that value to 2 you will see it in Advanced Power Settings under Processor power, select disable as I show above.

@Puraw i ve enable it but what mode should put now it is aggressive

@Puraw and also the problem is not that the fans are noisy it's the gpu fan continue spinning hard and i cant control it btw the mode in nitrosense is default even if i put it quiet nothing change it keeps spinning fast and the cpu fan just blowing a bit of air and if i but fan mode max the gpu keeps same and the cpu start work hard so in max mode both of the cpu and the gpu fan work correctly

Disable boost mode both on battery and when on power like I show on this picture:

It seems that the fan replacement is affecting the system's thermal or sensor readings. Make sure the new fans are properly connected to the motherboard headers and are compatible with the NitroSense software. You can also try a full EC reset.

@alexjames49 what do u mean by ec reset. i dont think the replacement is the reason because i ve tried putting the old fans back and it has the same issue when we come to connection point i dont know if there is a problem in the port of the gpu fan that causes spinning without stopping

@Puraw i ve tried to disable both but it is the same i dont know if the port of the fan is the problem do u think it might be?

Hi @compguy , Saw your post and totally get the frustration. I’ve seen a few Nitro 5 units misbehave the same way—fans blasting at max even in quiet mode, NitroSense not reacting, and registry tweaks not quite landing.

One thing that helped a fellow user (shoutout to @Rebalosho ) was disabling processor performance boost mode under Advanced Power Options. It doesn't sound obvious at first, but when NitroSense isn't correctly managing fan curves, this setting can stop sudden CPU spikes that confuse the EC and trigger full GPU fan speeds.

Here’s a simplified version of what they did:

    1. Open Regedit.exe and go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\PowerSettings\54533251-82be-4824-96c1-47b60b740d00\be337238-0d82-4146-a960-4f3749d470c7
    2. Change the Attributes value from 1 (hidden) to 2 (visible)
    3. Restart, then open your Advanced Power Settings for Balanced or Best Power Efficiency plans
    4. Under “Processor performance boost mode,” select Disabled for both Battery and Plugged In

⚙️ This helped quiet the GPU fan for @Rebalosho without compromising performance for general tasks . It may not fix every issue, but it’s a clean test that doesn’t touch hardware or drivers.

Let us know what happens after trying it—if the fan still behaves oddly even in max mode, you might consider a full EC reset as a follow-up.
