I have recently upgraded my ACER to a Snapdragon X Plus Swift GO 14 AI, and I can no longer connect to my Sony Bravia via HDMI cable. The cable worked on my older ACER Swift. The driver is up to date. Any tips?

Hey @gvhcox — I’ve been looking into this too, and I think I’ve got some answers.

Your new Swift Go 14 AI runs on the Snapdragon X Plus platform, which means it uses integrated Adreno graphics with no dedicated GPU (dGPU). Unlike older Intel-based Swift models, this one might not have the same level of support for HDMI output, especially under Windows.

One big difference? HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) protocol support. A lot of older Swifts didn’t support HDCP 2.2 over HDMI, which limited compatibility with certain TVs and streaming setups. But newer Snapdragon-powered devices tend to offload display tasks differently — and if HDMI isn’t fully wired or lacks HDCP handshake compatibility, that might explain why your Sony Bravia TV isn’t responding.

You could try using a USB-C to HDMI adapter, ideally one that supports DisplayLink. It may sidestep the internal GPU limitations entirely, since DisplayLink provides its own driver layer for video output. Not perfect, but could be the quickest fix.

Let me know if that works or if you find a better workaround — I’d be curious to see if anyone confirms HDMI passthrough or BIOS-level toggles for this model.

thanks Puraw. The laptop came with this adaptor, which has no distinguishing features other than the Acer branding. Not sure if it supports Displaylink but it’s the hardware I’m using unsuccessfully. T

the HDMI cord specs are here

Ps. the adaptor and HDMI cord worked fine when connected from Apple iphone16 to the Sony Bravia.
