Acer Nitro laptops, especially the Nitro 5, may crash during gaming due to a variety of reasons, including insufficient system resources, overheating, driver issues, or power problems. Addressing these issues involves updating drivers and BIOS, ensuring proper ventilation, checking for background applications, and potentially troubleshooting hardware components.

    Potential Causes and Solutions:
    Insufficient System Resources:
Games may require more RAM, CPU, or GPU power than the laptop can provide. Check game system requirements and consider upgrading hardware if necessary.
    Overheating:
Acer Nitro laptops, especially when pushed hard during gaming, can overheat, leading to crashes. Ensure proper ventilation by keeping the laptop elevated and free of obstructions. Consider using a cooling pad or monitoring temperatures with tools like NitroSense.
    Driver Issues:
Outdated or corrupted graphics drivers are a common culprit. Update graphics drivers from the manufacturer's website (Nvidia, AMD, or Intel) and consider a clean install.

    Software Conflicts:
Background applications can interfere with game performance. Close unnecessary programs before launching games and consider using the Task Manager to identify potential conflicts.
    Power Problems:
Issues with the power supply, AC adapter, or battery can cause crashes. Ensure the AC adapter is providing the correct voltage and current, and check for any signs of power-related issues like throttling or shutdowns.

    Hardware Issues:
Other hardware components like RAM or the storage drive can be potential causes. Check for errors using Windows Memory Diagnostic or running chkdsk.
    BIOS and Windows Updates:
Keeping the BIOS and Windows installation up to date can resolve compatibility issues and improve stability.
    Game Settings:
Lowering in-game graphics settings or resolution can reduce the load on the system and potentially prevent crashes.

Install the NVidia App and make sure that you have the latest driver for your gpu as that is one of the reasons you are getting this error.

Common Causes and Solutions to solving the nvlddmkm event id 153 error

    1. Clean Installation of NVIDIA Driver

A clean installation of the NVIDIA driver can resolve this issue. This process removes all existing driver files and installs fresh ones.

    Steps:

    1. Download the latest NVIDIA driver from the NVIDIA website.
    2. Use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to completely remove the current driver.
    3. Install the downloaded driver.

    2. Check Hardware Connections

Ensure that your GPU is properly seated in its PCIe slot and that all power connections are secure.

    Example:

Reseat the GPU and check all power connections

    3. Update System BIOS and Chipset Drivers

Updating your system BIOS and chipset drivers can also help resolve compatibility issues.

    Steps:

    1. Visit your motherboard manufacturer's website.
    2. Download and install the latest BIOS and chipset drivers.

    4. Adjust TDR Settings

Timeout Detection and Recovery (TDR) settings can be adjusted to prevent GPU resets.

    Example:

Modify TdrDelay value in the registry to 8

    5. Test with Different Driver Versions

Sometimes, using an older or beta version of the NVIDIA driver can resolve stability issues.

    Example:

Try drivers in the 561 and 566 series

By following these steps, you can address the root causes of Event ID 153 errors related to the nvlddmkm source12.
