Acer Aspire Revo R3700 Wired LAN Ethernet Controller Driver

I found several similar posts on this scattered across the web, and a solution, and wanted to pass this along to others finding the same issue.  I recently acquired an Acer Aspire Revo R3700 that had been restored with Windows 7 (32-bit), and noticed it had a yellow exclamation point error in the Device Manager for the (Wired) Ethernet (LAN) Controller. The same error was indicated in the system desciption for the computer as requiring troubleshooting.

I went through the standard procedures to load a driver for the Ethernet Controller, including Windows Update, loading a LAN driver from the Acer support website for the R3700, and others.  The Ethernet adapter (chipset) is supplied by Realtek, which is indicated on the Acer support site.  Even when asking Windows to load a driver for the Ethernet Controller directly from the file/folder downloaded from the Acer support site, it refused, saying no compatible driver was present.  While the wireless (Ralink) connection was working, LAN / Ethernet would not.

Eventually I saw a suggestion in another forum to obtain a driver directly from the Realtek Taiwan support site.  The drivers I eventually selected were from their Communications Network ICs - Network Interface Controllers - 10/100/1000M Gigabit Ethernet - PCI Express - Software - for the following chipsets:

RTL8111B/RTL8168B/RTL8111/RTL8168
RTL8111C/RTL8111CP/RTL8111D(L)
RTL8168C/RTL8111DP/RTL8111E
RTL8168E/RTL8111F/RTL8411
RTL8111G/RTL8111GUS/RTL8411B(N)

I used the Windows 7 Auto Install exe file from here with success - Device Manager reports the installed Ethernet Controller driver is for a Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller.  It is also possible to install just the driver file that is available separately once it's unzipped and pointed to while using Update Driver Software - I also did that with success. The LAN connection speed was reported as 1.0GB.

If any of the Acer folks are reading this forum/post, I suggest you update the LAN driver available through website Support to reflect the correct chipset/driver mentioned above.

Thanks alot for the advice. Seems to have worked (no annoying exclamation mark next to ethenet controller). I think it was causing some audio lag when my wireless connectivity was weak, will have to see if that now stops. Thanks again!
