Predator Helios 300 PH315-52-7958 - Power button not working anymore; can't find pins to jump start

So basically, over a few weeks, my power button started becoming less and less responsive. I'd have to push it longer and harder in order to get it to start, until it wouldn't start anymore at all. In hindsight, I think I should have activated wake on keyboard touch or lan in the BIOS lol.

The laptop charges and still charges devices when I plug them in. I tried removing the battery, bios battery, RAM, allat. Though I think that's probably redundant cause it's likely a messed up keyboard connector.

Most of the guides I found online to jump-start it include motherboard types wherein there are 2 small silver pins besides the keyboard connector, which are not present on my motherboard.

Hi @unclesecret — sounds like the power button dome switch has worn out, which unfortunately is part of the full keyboard assembly on the PH315-52 series.

Since there are no accessible jump-start pins near the keyboard connector, and the system still charges, the motherboard is likely fine.

A keyboard replacement should restore power-on functionality. If you're comfortable with disassembly, you can source the part from Zandparts or similar. Otherwise, a service center can handle it without risking other components.

Have a look at this bypass method fix HERE if this method doesn't work, then you need to buy a new either keyboard (if you want to dismantle the keyboard from the upper case) or buy a new uppercase and keyboard sealed unit for your PH315-52 laptop. Good luck and hope this helps you out further.

This is just the PH315-52 RGB keyboard, as its available on eBay, so you can swap this out, but you need to undo the rivets that this keyboard is attached with to the upper case, so be aware of that.
