Hello Acer Community,

I have an Acer Predator PH315-54 that originally came with Windows 10 Home 64-bit pre-installed and activated (OEM license).

Recently, I gave my laptop to a friend, and now it shows Windows 10 Pro, and Windows is no longer activated. I’m getting activation errors like 0xC004C003. I believe the edition was changed by entering a random product key, possibly from an unofficial source.

Now, I want to:

  1. Recover the original OEM product key that came with the laptop,
  2. Revert to Windows 10 Home, and
  3. Reactivate it using the genuine key.

I tried running this command in Command Prompt:
wmic path softwarelicensingservice get OA3xOriginalProductKey

I entered the product key but it couldn't proceed.

But I’m not sure if the result is valid or if this is the correct method. Can Acer support help me retrieve the official OEM product key linked to my device?

I have the device’s serial number and proof of purchase if needed.

Thanks in advance!

Hi ADYCER, if you’re still on Windows 10, it’s time to move on. Your Predator PH315-54 supports Windows 11 23H2 out of the box, and the latest BIOS (v1.15 from August 2023) ensures full compatibility with Windows 11 24H2 as well.

🔐 OEM Activation Note: If the motherboard was replaced, your original Windows 10 license key (OEM) may no longer auto-activate. In that case:

    • Contact Acer Services in your region—they may assist with license validation or install Windows 11 24H2 for a small fee.
    • Alternatively, purchase a lifetime Windows 11 license from a trusted source.

    Why Upgrade Now:

    • No official support for Windows 10 moving forward
    • Driver stack and IRST compatibility tuned for Win11
    • BIOS changelog confirms support for updated firmware and security patches

Let us know once you've decided—happy to help with install steps or license links.

Your Predator Helios model PH315-54 has an 11th Gen Intel cpu and is an Acer Win-11 OS design laptop, DO NOT run Win-10 OS on this laptop, as even if your PH315-54 was installed with Win-10 (which is very unusual for an Acer 2021 released laptop) as this laptops bios chip OS key should be registered with Microsoft for the Win-11 OS Home key, and you don't need a Windows key, as this laptops has a "Windows is activated with a digital licence linked to your Microsoft account" like shown below and that is why the Win-10 Pro can't be activated or whatever your friend did, his Win-10 Pro key is a copy key that is already activated and its illegitimate.

What I suggest that you do is do a Clean Install of Win-11 Home that is the oem Microsoft OS for this laptop. This will automatically registered Win-11 with Microsoft and you will not be remined to put a key in.

Construct a Rufus 4.9 bootable 8GB USB and follow its guide and also put the PH315-54 IRST (Intel® Rapid Storage Technology) Driver version 18.6.1.1016.2 onto the Rufus bootable drive, so that when you get to the Win-11 installation section at:

    • Where do you want to install Windows? > Load driver > then you install the above IRST driver

So that after you install the IRST driver, your PH315-54 M.2 bootable drive is recognized and you can continue the installation. Finish the Win-11 installation and make sure that you put your Microsoft account registered email that your PH315-54 is registered under, and then make sure that you do all the Win-11 version 24H2 updates to its last OS build: 26100.4484 and you are done. Also ands when you are finished, make sure that the bios is updated to the last version 1.15 for best performance results. Good luck and hope this helps you out, as you should have a clean install of Win-11 fully operational.

To find the Windows 10 OEM product key on your Acer Predator PH315-54, you can use the command prompt or a dedicated tool like ShowKeyPlus. The OEM key is usually embedded in the BIOS and can be retrieved using the wmic path softwarelicensingService get OA3xOriginalProductKey command in Command Prompt. Alternatively, the ShowKeyPlus app from the Microsoft Store can also display the key.

The Windows 25 digit product key that you get through the command prompt or a dedicated tool methods will not register, as your oem windows is digitally signed and it can ONLY be activated through your Microsoft account, as just putting in a 25 digit key will not work, so be aware of this and don't waste your time.
