Solid red and blue lights on an Acer Aspire laptop typically indicate a power or battery issue. It could be a problem with the AC adapter, the battery itself, or the laptop's power management system. Try these steps: check the power cord and adapter, try a different power outlet, perform a power drain, and check the battery health using Windows tools or third-party software. If the problem persists, it's best to consult Acer support or a professional technician.

    Here's a more detailed breakdown:
    1. Check the Power Supply:
    Power Cord and Adapter:
Inspect the power cord and adapter for any signs of damage, such as frayed wires, cracks, or bent prongs. If damaged, replace them.
    Power Outlet:
Try plugging the adapter into a different power outlet to rule out a faulty socket.
    Charger Output:
If you have a multimeter, you can check the output voltage of the adapter to see if it's within the expected range.
    2. Power Drain and Reset:
    Power Drain:
Disconnect the AC adapter and battery (if possible). Then, press and hold the power button for 20-30 seconds to drain any residual power. Reconnect the components and try booting up.

    BIOS Reset:
If you can access the BIOS, try resetting it to defaults. Consult your laptop's manual for instructions on how to enter the BIOS and reset it.
    3. Battery Check:
Battery Health: Use Windows' built-in battery report tool (search for "powercfg /batteryreport" in Command Prompt) or third-party software to assess the battery's health and capacity.
Battery Replacement: If the battery is severely degraded, it might be necessary to replace it.
    4. Hardware Issues:
    RAM:
If the problem persists, there could be an issue with the RAM modules. Try reseating them or testing with a known good RAM module (if available).
Other Hardware: If none of the above steps work, there might be a more serious hardware problem, such as a faulty motherboard or power supply. In this case, it's best to seek professional help.
    5. Seek Professional Help: If you're uncomfortable performing the troubleshooting steps above, or if the problem persists, contact Acer support or take your laptop to a qualified technician for diagnosis and repair.

Hi Tom we need to know at least the Aspire model: Run a battery report, paste this in the command prompt: powercfg /batteryreport and open the report with your Edge browser, press Ctrl + P or right click and select "Print to Microsoft PDF", attach the report to your reply, type @Puraw or use "Quote" when you reply so I will get an alert. Amber battery LEDs on solid indicates charging. when the battery is not charging using the original barrel plug power adapter and not a USB-C charger could be a bad battery or power rail issue. Try first to reset the battery: There is a small pinhole in the back of your laptop (with a battery sign), stick a pin in that hole till you feel it click (micro switch), keep pressing the pin for a few seconds.
