looking for one without a 2 to 3 inch cord. Something solid about less than an inch long to my thumb drive stays stationary when in the tablet not flopping around on a 3 inch corded adapter.. I found one and it woudl not work with the thumb drive so tested it on the desktop PC and with 2 different smart phones and it actually worked to charge and see the phones. Yet pluged in the tablet it woudl not bring up the thumb drive. Ièm assuming the end although similar and it did fit was not the proper end classifaction of Micro - maybe itès a min USB and not a micro ....the one I tried was USB AF- MicroB  ( micro usb to full size USB female

yes perfect ...yet I had one and it did not read the thumb drive what so ever ..So I'm curious what end Acer is using cleary it's proprietary/micrco/mini but the one I had worked as a charge hook up but not to read the thumb drive Smiley Sad. I even as some recommanded on othe forums to cut back the plastic part as some don't go in far enough but that did not work either. I'll post a pic WP_20130915_004.jpg

I've used a number of different ones and other than those that were "charge only", never had any trouble. W3 and W510 use the same connector and I suspect the W4 does also.

I used different ones as well ..along with the Acer adapters that come with it. Yet that doesnt answer my question. The one I have clearly doesnt work....So again im looking for one similar that does. So there has to be a ome that has the same end and has to be a term for the same end as the one Acer uses.

Nope, have several micro USB-B's but not that one. Personally would not use one like that on a W3 or W510 anyway, too much cantilever force possible.

You are talking as if a strain will be put on the port but in essence if you think about it. Something stationary wouldl be more suitable for just a quick plug and play purposes than the weight of the thumb drive hang from a 2 to 3 inch tethered dongle adapter that hangs down.  The wire that comes with the acer bends direct down in a curved fashion add in a 32 gig thum drive and it hand further. Something solid for a qucik plug and play is more logical to me and you wouldn't have the thumb drive dangling around while you used the tablet whacking the tablet and just being a bother when doing tasks.

Right angle ones I have cover the HDMI port on a W510 and point up on a W3. Ones I have that are rated for data and not just charge all work even the pink one.

I do not let anything just dangle.
