I purchased the Acer Aspire A715-79G in may 2025, but the battery performance has been disappointing. It drains very quickly and doesn’t even last an hour. I’m wondering if other users are facing the same issue. If not, has anyone successfully claimed a warranty for the battery?

Hi @Rutvik_Parmar An hour is actually very short, and first of all, you should know how your computer is configured. Battery drain is related to computer usage and factors such as brightness, open applications or applications running in the background, or the use of multimedia content such as movies or similar from websites.
It also depends on the power mode configured: if it's set to maximum performance, the consumption is higher; if it's set to balanced, it's lower.
If battery consumption is still high and the mode is set to balanced and you're not using multimedia content online, you should contact Acer's warranty services:

    support.acer.com

Your battery, however, is only 4 cells and its maximum theoretical life is 7 hours, but in reality, with moderate use, it should last around 3/4 hours:

It's also possible that the battery isn't in good chemical condition and that's the reason for the consumption, but this should be verified by technical support.

Acer Aspire A715-79G battery lasting less than an hour can be due to several factors, including the high power consumption of the dedicated graphics card (RTX 3050), incorrect power settings, or background processes consuming resources. Additionally, aging batteries or hardware issues can also contribute to reduced battery life.

    Here's a more detailed breakdown:
    1. High Power Consumption:
Dedicated GPU: The RTX 3050, while powerful, is a significant power consumer, especially when not plugged into a power adapter.
Gaming: Demanding games can drain the battery quickly, even with a full charge.
    2. Power Management:
Incorrect Power Plans: Using the "High Performance" or "Ultra-High Performance" power plans can prioritize performance over battery life, leading to faster drainage.
Background Processes: Unnecessary applications running in the background can consume power even when not actively used.

USB Charging: The "Always-on USB" feature can keep ports powered even when the laptop is off, draining the battery.
Fast Startup: This feature, while speeding up boot times, can also consume more power.
Screen Brightness: High screen brightness settings significantly impact battery life.
    3. Battery Issues:
Age: Batteries degrade over time, reducing their capacity and runtime.
Calibration: An inaccurate battery reading can cause the laptop to shut down prematurely.
Faulty Charger/DC-In: A malfunctioning charger or DC-in cable can prevent proper charging.

    4. Other Factors:
Software Issues: Malware or outdated drivers can cause unexpected battery drain.
Hardware Issues: Problems with the motherboard or other components can also affect battery performance.
Incompatible Hardware: Some hardware components might not be fully compatible with the laptop's power management, leading to issues.

    Troubleshooting Steps:
Check Power Settings: Switch to the "Balanced" power plan and enable "Power Efficiency" mode.
Adjust Screen Brightness: Lower the screen brightness to conserve power.
Close Unnecessary Applications: Identify and close apps consuming too much power in the Task Manager.
Update Drivers: Ensure your graphics card and other drivers are up-to-date.
Calibrate Battery: Perform battery calibration to correct any inaccurate readings.
Check for Malware: Run a scan to detect and remove any potential malware.
Test with Original Charger: Ensure your charger is functioning correctly.
Consider Battery Replacement: If the battery is old or significantly degraded, consider replacing it with a new one from an authorized service center.
Consult Acer Support: If issues persist, contact Acer support or a qualified technician for further diagnosis.

Hi, your laptop has the RTX 3050 dGPU that uses up to 130W power and when the power adapter is not plugged in, the graphics card alone can deplete your battery in less than 30 minutes. Keep the power adapter plugged in 24/7 and the battery fully charged to 100% with this laptop.
