I got an old Aspire with a 3700u from my mom. It randomly freezes and doesnt respond to anything before I shut it down with the button. I have tried two Linuxes (Zorin and Bazzite) and three different versions of Windows (11, 10 LTSC, modified Tiny11) but it keeps doing the same thing. I repasted it with Noctua NT-H1 because it was over 80°C while idle. I also cleaned it from dust and I did a test on the RAM with memtest86 and no errors and Crystaldiskinfo said that the SSD was good. What should I do?

Also, it just bluescreened in Windows when on battery power and I snapped it in half accidentally once when taking the battery out so not using it.

The Acer Aspire A135-42 freezing issue, where the laptop randomly freezes and becomes unresponsive, could stem from a variety of factors including software conflicts, overheating, or hardware issues. Troubleshooting steps include checking for Windows updates, updating drivers, and potentially performing a clean install of Windows. If the problem persists, hardware-related issues like a failing hard drive or overheating components may be the cause, and professional diagnostics might be necessary.
Here's a more detailed breakdown of potential causes and solutions:

    1. Software-Related Issues:
    Windows Updates:
Ensure all Windows updates are installed, as they often include bug fixes and performance improvements.
    Outdated or Corrupted Drivers:
Outdated or faulty drivers, especially for graphics cards and other peripherals, can cause instability. Update them through Device Manager or the respective manufacturer's website.
    Software Conflicts:
Certain third-party applications, especially those that interact with the system at a low level, can cause conflicts and lead to freezing. Try running the system in Safe Mode to see if the issue persists, which can help identify problematic software.
    Malware:
Malware infections can also cause system instability. Run a full scan with a reputable antivirus program.
    2. Hardware-Related Issues:
    Overheating:
Overheating due to dust buildup or inadequate cooling can cause random freezes. Clean the laptop's internal components with compressed air and consider reapplying thermal paste on the CPU and GPU.
    Hard Drive Issues:
A failing hard drive can cause the system to freeze and become unresponsive. Run a diagnostic check using Acer Care Center or other diagnostic tools.

    RAM Issues:
Faulty RAM can also lead to freezing. Consider running a memory diagnostic tool to check for errors.
    Power Supply Issues:
In some cases, a failing power supply can cause instability. If you suspect this, consult with a professional.
    3. Troubleshooting Steps:
Force Shutdown: If the laptop freezes completely, press and hold the power button until it shuts down. Then, restart the system.
Clean Boot: Boot the system into Safe Mode or perform a clean boot to isolate software conflicts.
    Update Drivers:
Update graphics drivers, chipset drivers, and other relevant drivers from the manufacturer's website.
    Run Diagnostics:
Use tools like Acer Care Center or third-party tools to check for hardware errors.
    Consider a Clean Install:
If the problem persists, consider performing a clean install of Windows, which can resolve software-related issues.
