Laptop battery stuck at 5%. Battery report shows that the capacity is almost half. Does the battery need replacement?

DESIGN CAPACITY: 58, 751 mWh

FULLCHARGE CAPACITY: 37, 267 mWh

The battery has stopped charging beyond 5 percentage. The laptop is 4 years old.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers.

Disconnected the battery, removed the residual charge, plugged it in and let it charge for more than 2 hrs without switching on the pc.

BIos is updated, doesn't seem like an OS glitch.

Nothing seems to work.

The battery calibration software is also unable to charge it.

Initially I thought it could be an OS glitch but now I think the battery has given up on me. Shall I order a new one? Will it resolve the issue?

Yes, try to order a new battery. The battery model number you can search for is AP18E7M or AP18E8M.

Yes, replacing the battery is the right move, and it should resolve the issue you're facing. When doing so, it's important to choose a genuine or high-quality compatible replacement to ensure safety and longevity. Also, make sure the new battery matches the original in terms of voltage and connector type so it functions correctly with your laptop's power system.
