Hi, I´ve an extern DVD connected with USB at the keyboard. This device is OK according to the computer (Acer W510). When I put in a CD-Rom to install a program so is the computer turning off the DVD-player. I can sometimes see it under Computer but when I click on it it´s gone. I can´t install the program because I can´t find Install.exe and it don´t start automatically. I couldn´t find any answers anywhere. Can you help me?

Best regards

It seems you have a dvd plugged into a keyboard.  If this is the case the keyboard may not be providing enough power to operate the dvd.  Try plugging the dvd into the computer directly or by a hub and see if it might work.

You could plug the dvd into another computer to be sure it works okay.

Yes, very likely there is not enough power. If you have access to a powered USB hub, that would fix it.

OK, thanks, I understand that my tablet don´t have the power to drive a DVD-player. Strange, because I had it connected to the powercord. If I would like to install a specific programme I must do that over the Internet. Well it isn´t a real computer just a Internetconnector so ;-)

You might think about investing in a powered USB hub, the hub itself will provide the power to your DVD player without requiring excess power from the tablet. You can also copy the DVD/CD to a thumb drive and use that for installs. A thumb drive uses a lot less power since it doesn't have to spin up a motor.
