I have an Aspire A315-24PT. When I first bought it my touchscreen worked fine. Unfortunately, there was an accident and the screen got broken. I had it repaired, new screen put in, no problem. However, now the touchscreen doesn't work at all and the repair place I took it to couldn't figure out why. They said it was also odd that my HID Touchscreen driver was missing, and they were unable to recover it. I did not see it listed anywhere among the drivers available on the site.

Where can I go/what do I have to do to replace this driver and get my touchscreen working again?

Hi, check with the repair shop what screen was installed, there are compatible non-touch screen replacements available. These are often used when replacing a damaged touchscreen with a simpler, more affordable panel. For example, a 15.6" FHD non-touch IPS panel with a 30-pin connector is listed as compatible with the A315-24P series.

If the HID-compliant touchscreen driver is missing on your Acer Aspire A315-24PT, you can try several troubleshooting steps. First, ensure your system is updated through Windows Update and that you've checked for optional updates, as the necessary driver might be included. If that doesn't resolve it, visit Acer's support website to download the appropriate driver for your device. You can also try enabling or reinstalling the driver through Device Manager, or running the hardware troubleshooter.

I had contacted the repair shop the first time I got it back and they confirmed that yes the wrong screen was installed. The owner took the laptop back and replaced it with the correct screen and spent weeks trying to figure out why the touch screen still was not working.
