Hello, i wondered how can I upgrade my predator orion 9000. I mean like if there are any chances to upgrade the gpu to for example a 5080. I do understand that i have to upgrade the cpu aswell, but won't it need to upgrade the motherboard aswell? Any examples on how I could upgrade it? If there is a chance.

My Specs

Orion PO9-600

i7-8700k

GTX 1080

32GB Ram

Before updating anything on the Predator Orion 9000 PO9-600 desktop model, make sure that you update the Win-10 or Win-11 OS that you are running on this desktop and to their last version OS builds, and also make sure that you also update the bios to the last version R01-A4 that this desktop requires, so that all new hardware upgrades perform at their peak performance with the PO9-600 Z370 chipset mainboard, that is and with especially the ram and cpu upgrades that you will do.

    Upgrades that I would do:

    1. Upgrade to either the max Acer fitted Socket 1151 i5-9600K cpu or the higher spec i7-9700K cpu for better performance, as these cpu's are compatible with the PO9-600 Z370 chipset mainboard.
    2. Upgrade the ram to a total of 64GB @ 2x 32GB DDR4-2666MT/s or if you cant get these exact modules, upgrade to the DDR4-3200MT/s CL22 type ram as the higher speed ram, is backward compatible and will work. Note: that the max 9th Gen cpu's ram has a speed of 2666MT/s but the 3200MT/s speed ram is backward compatible and will run at 2666MT/s speed with the 9th Gen cpu's.
    3. Upgrade the oem GTX1080 gpu, to a max and the highest spec NVidia RTX-3070Ti gpu for best and balanced performance with all the cpu and ram upgrades, as the Acer fitted oem 24pin main power plug 750W PSU will run this gpu comfortably.

All the above upgrades are the max and the most that I would spend on an upgrade for the PO9-600 desktop if you are willing to spend this sort of money on an upgrade.

But in my opinion, you would be much better off selling the PO9-600 desktop and buying the newest Acer Predator Orion 14th Gen cpu with DDR5-5600MT/s type ram and the RTX 40 series or the newest 50 series gpu's if you want a serious gaming rig. Good luck and hope this helps you out.
