  1. The sound devices have disappeared. I updated and uninstalled the sound drivers but it didn't help. In the device manager, Realtek is grayed out and hidden, and it says that the device is not connected to the PC. What should I do?

Hi, the best solution is downloading DDU freeware from Wagnardsoft.com and to boot to Safe mode, then uninstall all Realtek drivers with DDU in Safe Mode (see red box 2, picture). Windows will reinstall the RTK driver with the Intel audio codec. Do not install any drivers.

If you're experiencing missing sound devices on your Acer Nitro 5 AN515-55, the issue likely stems from drivers or a Windows update. Here's how to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:-

    1. Check Device Manager:
    Open Device Manager.
Expand "Sound, video and game controllers."
If you see a Realtek audio device with a yellow exclamation point or other error, it indicates a driver problem.
If you don't see any sound devices listed, the drivers might be completely missing.
    2. Uninstall and Reinstall Audio Drivers:
Uninstall: Right-click on the Realtek audio device in Device Manager and select "Uninstall device."
    Restart: Restart your laptop.
Scan for Hardware Changes: In Device Manager, click "Action" then "Scan for hardware changes."
Windows will attempt to reinstall the drivers automatically.
    3. Manually Download and Install Drivers:
Visit Acer Support: Go to the Acer support website and locate the drivers for your specific Nitro 5 model (AN515-55).
Download: Download the appropriate Realtek audio drivers.
Install: Run the downloaded installer to install the drivers.

    4. Run the Windows Audio Troubleshooter:
Open the Windows Troubleshooter for audio and Follow the on-screen instructions.
    5. Check for System Updates:
Ensure your Windows operating system is up to date.
Sometimes updates can introduce issues that affect sound devices.
    6. Use a Previous Driver:
If the automatic driver installation fails, try using an older driver.
In Device Manager, right-click the Realtek audio device, select "Properties," then go to the "Driver" tab.
    Click "Roll Back Driver."
If the issue persists after trying these steps, it's possible there's a hardware problem with the audio circuitry, and you might need to contact Acer support or a qualified technician.
