I have just encountered the issue. I'm tryig to upgrade my Aspire 7741Z-4449 from the factory installed 4GB of RAM to new matched pairs of Kingston KVR13S9S8/4   4GB PC3-10600 CL9 204-Pin SODIMM  to make  total of 8GB installed. Once I install the Ram and turn on the system...it tries to boot but then goes to the "Windows Falied to start" screen. I have two options from there. I can either restart the PC as normal which just brings me back to the same sreen or I can try to have the system repair the PC which lso brings me back to the same screen. Just a constant loop. The system is running Windows 7 64-bit OS with all the current updates. I entered the Bios and checked to make sure the system is recognizing the new RAM and it shows 8165MB (aprox figure. it is over 8000MB) so it does recognize the RAM.

I need to have a solution as I had to special order the RAM and I need it for work. I bought the laptop as the specs state that it is capable of running 8GB of RAM. Just trying other ram is not a option as I can not just keep ordering different brands of RAM to see if they work.

Any suggestions? Are the specs supplied by Acer incorrect for this laptop?
