Is there a Thunderbolt Dock designed to FULLY support the Nitro V 15?

I've been banging my head against the concrete trying to solve this problem. I'm using the ANV15-51, Processor: 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-13620H, 2.40 GHz, Installed RAM: 64.0 GB, NVIDIA RTX 4060 GPU. This laptop pulls 135w while gaming/ in best performance mode. This makes utilizing the Thunderbolt 4 port almost impossible since the max charging TB4 supports is 100w ( I think the limit for this model PC is 65w charging via the TB4 port), so you are unable to game at max performance since the system can't get it's required power. The system prioritizes receiving power through the TB4 port should a cable be connected, and you are plugged in with the 135w native charger. There are apparently no methods to change this setting in the BIOS (from what I've researched so far). So, is there a TB4 dock that can support this laptop? If not, this product is of poor engineering since this device requires more resources than the TB4 port can provide; why even bother installing TB4? 😑

    Welcome @Noah42397,

Have you checked that the firmware of your Nitro V15 is updated to the latest available version (1.26 or higher)?

I'll double check, but what does the firmware have to do have to do with what appears to be a hardware limitation issue?

Intel Thunderbolt PD controller has an internal firmware that is used to communicate with the EC (via SMBus).

This component is responsible for monitoring and managing the power supply to your laptop's motherboard.

You can also try disabling the TBT Detection Gain option in the firmware settings.

When you are using AC charger + Docking Station. This will prevent it from switching the power supply.

So I was able to update the bios to ver. 1.26, and I disabled TBT Detection Gain; however, it did not work for preventing PD switching from a to TB4 charging. I'm running Windows 11, and I researched that the Thunderbolt PD controller app is not available for W11 since they supposedly integrated this app's functions into W11's firmware or something. 🤷🏾‍♂️

Alternatively, I found on a Reddit thread that a user found this USB 4 dock (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C4LX3KQC?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share) that can operate an external monitor without being plugged into a PD cable. So far, it works without issue, and I'm able to game at full performance while having a dock plugged into the TB4 port and charging with the dedicated charger.

If the charger circuit of your Nitro V15 is failing to priorize the DC adapter over the TB4 PD Type-C port (when both are connected simultaneously). Then, I think that is a firmware bug!

I've seen cases where laptops are literally "smoking" after a few minutes of use. When you connect these two adapters simultaneously.

I think it would be worth trying to contact Acer Support and reporting this issue:
