I have a year old acer predator helios neo 16, specifically PHN16-71. I bought it in a different country, with which I was given a different charger but the voltage is the same 230V in both countries. After moving, I hear this crackling noise whenever I plug in the charger, first I thought its the speakers, then the battery. I have checked and crossed out all the possible faulty components. I tried using a different charger from someone who has the same charger as I do and there was no crackling noise anymore. I now believe its the charger issue. Could it be a result of using a surge protector or a faulty charger pin?

A crackling noise when plugging in the Predator PHN16 charger could indicate a few issues, including arcing electricity, a faulty charger, or problems with the charging port. It's generally a sign of a potential electrical problem, and it's recommended to investigate and resolve it to avoid potential damage.
Here's a breakdown of what might be happening and what you can do:
    Possible Causes:-

    Arcing Electricity:
Crackling sounds often signify electrical arcing, where electricity is jumping between the charging port and the charger. This can be caused by a loose connection, damaged pins, or a faulty charging port.
    Faulty Charger:
The charger itself might be damaged or malfunctioning, causing it to produce the crackling noise.
    Damaged Charging Port:
The charging port on the laptop could have bent pins or other damage that prevents proper contact with the charger.
    Loose Connection:
A loose connection between the charger and the laptop can also lead to arcing and crackling.
    External Factors:
In some cases, the crackling noise might be caused by a faulty power outlet or a poor grounding situation, though this is less likely.
    Troubleshooting Steps:

    1. Inspect the Charger and Cable:
Carefully examine the charger and the cable for any signs of damage, like bent pins, loose connections, or frayed wires.
    2. Clean the Charging Port:
If the port looks dirty or dusty, use a small brush or compressed air to clean it gently.
    3. Try a Different Charger:
If possible, try using a different, known-good charger for the Predator PHN16 to see if the noise persists.
    4. Check the Power Outlet:
Test the charger in a different power outlet to rule out any issues with the existing one.
    5. Use a Surge Protector:
If you don't already, try using a grounded surge protector. Grounded surge protectors can help filter out electrical noise and prevent arcing.
    6. Update Drivers:
Sometimes, driver issues can cause unusual sounds. Try updating your BIOS and audio drivers.
    7. Contact Acer Support:
If the problem persists after troubleshooting, it's best to contact Acer Support for professional assistance. They may be able to diagnose the issue and recommend repairs or replacement.
