Hello,

My XB323U GX is experiencing a weird blue glow/glimmer/off-colouring on the edges of the screen. It goes all around the bezel and is getting worse. This just starting in the summer, right after the 3-year warranty was up (of course). Is there anything that might help with this, and I do not know if this would be something that could be RMA'd/repaired considering it seems to be a manufacturing defect and other people are complaining about it as well?

The Acer Predator XB323U GX monitor may be experiencing a blue glow or glimmer on the edges of the screen, which some users have reported as a form of "backlight bleed". This issue, also known as "blue bleed," is a phenomenon where light from the monitor's backlight appears to leak out around the edges of the screen, particularly noticeable in dark conditions.
Here's a breakdown of the issue and potential solutions:

    1. Understanding the Phenomenon:
Backlight bleed is a common issue with IPS (In-Plane Switching) panels, a type of display technology used in the XB323U GX.
It's often most noticeable when displaying black or dark backgrounds, as the light leakage is more apparent against the dark pixels.
While it can be a cosmetic issue, it's important to determine if it's causing any functional problems or if it's becoming increasingly noticeable.
    2. Potential Causes:
      Manufacturing Variations:
Some degree of backlight bleed is normal, and it can vary from panel to panel.
      Panel Quality:
If the bleed is excessive or noticeable, it could indicate a manufacturing defect in the LCD panel itself.
      Pressure on the Bezel:
In some cases, the bezel (the frame around the screen) applying too much pressure to the screen panel can cause backlight bleed.
    3. Solutions and Considerations:
      Check for Warranty:
If the monitor is still under warranty, contact Acer support to inquire about a screen replacement or repair.
      Evaluate Severity:
Assess whether the blue glow/glimmer is distracting or significantly affecting the viewing experience.
      Consider a Replacement:
If the bleed is severe or noticeable, and if it's affecting your ability to use the monitor, you may want to consider requesting a screen replacement from Acer.
      Adjust Bezel Pressure (if applicable):
If the bezel is applying too much pressure, carefully readjust it to see if it reduces the backlight bleed.
      Clean the Screen:
A clean screen can help reduce the appearance of backlight bleed.
      Report the Issue to Acer:
If you're unsure about the cause or severity, contact Acer support for guidance.
    4. Important Notes:
Backlight bleed is generally not a performance issue and won't hinder the functionality of the monitor.
If you're considering a screen replacement, it's a good idea to research Acer's warranty policy and what they offer for screen replacements, including whether they might use refurbished parts.
If the blue glow/glimmer is recently appearing or worsening, it's best to contact Acer support as soon as possible to address the issue.
