I've got a Predator Helios 315-54. The gpu fan was going out (grinding sound), so I opened it up to clean it the dust that i couldnt blow out, after cleaning the laptop wont do a post check. I replaced the fan with a new one, still failing to post.

After hitting the power button, the Turbo light comes on for 3 seconds then goes out - no display, no fan spin, no beeps. I doublechecked all connections, did a battery removal reset, cmos battery removal reset... no luck. Any ideas?

Check first if you haven't bent any of the fans plugs pins at the mobo when you inserted the new fan, as this is a cause of the laptop not booting as the fan pins are shorting out, check this first very carefully as allot of users that replace fans do this to these plugs.

Check the Fan 1 mobo pins at its plug if they are not bent and touching each other

If you did a Hard Reset and the fan pins are not touching or shorting out, and plugs are plugged in properly, and your laptop still doesn't boot with no display or fans spinning, then you have a main power rail short that probably the laptops mosfet or a capacitor has shorted or at worst the cpu is fried which is a permanent fault and can't be fixed and you will need a new mainboard.

Take your PH315-54 to a technician and get them to pinpoint the exact problem of your laptop, as a user like you can't analyze this laptops power rail properly. Good luck and hope this helps you out to solve this problem.

The AN515-54 mosfet chips around the DC_IN port that should be checked if they are shorted, this si the fist chips that need to be checked and the power rail needs to be chased all the way up its rail and the exact fault pinpointed on the main power rail, as if any chips are shorted, that is why the laptop docent's boot, but then as i've said if the cpu is shorted then you will need a new mainboard.
