Hi, I spent around 3 last days figuring out if my laptop can use NVMe in M.2 port.

I was asking ChatGPT - kinda unsure,

I was looking on my own - mess,

I was installing software like CrystalDiskInfo and HWinFO - saw only active SATA HDD disc. I found that M.2 port is unreachable by default by any software except BIOS.

I checked there, only SATA shown.

I was looking for manual to my exact "Acer Aspire 5 A515-51G-57TQ" device, no manual.

I'm just unsure if my laptop can use NVMe. I found out that for many of you it is possible to use NVMe to M.2 port. But I'm still uncertain, like how can I know for sure?

Thanks for any help.

Your Acer Aspire 5 A515-51G-57TQ supports M.2 NVMe Gen3 SSDs up to 1TB. Tested options like the Crucial P1 and Samsung 970 Evo Plus are highly compatible and perform well at Gen3 speeds. While NVMe Gen4 SSDs can work, they'll operate at reduced speeds (Gen3). Opting for a Gen3 SSD is more cost-effective and ensures smooth functionality.

Your Aspire 5 A515-51G-57TQ has a 1x M.2 SSD slot of a Gen 3 x4 type specification and can run with NVMe type M.2 SSD drives, and will function with any size M.2 SSD drive in a Win-10 OS system with a GUID (GPT) format drive and bios, this format has max drive capacity limit of 8 petabytes (1 petabyte = 1000TB) so you will never ever reach that capacity.

The only drive limitation capacity is if this laptop has an OS with a windows that is formatted in the MBR/Legacy format that has a max limit of 2.2TB. So take all this as a rule as that is the drive capacity theory in a Windows 10 or 11 operating systems. Good luck and hope this helps you out further.
