Touchscreen not working. F10 doesn't affect it-in device manager, there is no HID touchscreen to open. Even after scanning for hardware changes. Aspire A315-24PT

I rarely use touchscreens on my laptops, so not sure how I turned this one off (if I did).

If the touchscreen on your Acer Aspire A315-24PT is not working and there's no HID-compliant touchscreen listed in Device Manager, here are some steps to troubleshoot and potentially fix the issue:

    >Check for Physical Damage or Dirt. Ensure the screen is clean and free of cracks or physical damage.

    >First try a power reset. To reset your Acer laptop using the battery reset pinhole, first ensure the laptop is turned off and unplugged from the AC adapter. Locate the battery reset pinhole on the bottom of your laptop, usually marked with a battery icon. Using a small paperclip or a similar object, press and hold the reset button inside the pinhole for about 5 seconds. After releasing the button, wait for approximately 5 minutes before plugging in the AC adapter and powering on your laptop. This process temporarily disconnects and reconnects the internal battery, which can help resolve this issue.

    >Reinstall/Update Touchscreen Drivers, since the HID touchscreen is missing in Device Manager:
Open Device Manager Win + X > Device Manager. Click View > Show hidden devices sometimes disabled devices are hidden. Look under Human Interface Devices (HID) for any greyed-out or missing entries.

If you see an unknown device or a disabled touchscreen device:
Right-click > Enable device if available.
    Right-click > Update driver > Search automatically.
If no updates are found, right-click > Uninstall device, then restart your laptop to let Windows reinstall it.

    >Also check for Chipset and BIOS updates, as they may affect touch functionality. The latest BIOS version is V1.21 Aspire A315-24PT

    >Run Windows Hardware Troubleshooter, Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
Run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter.

    >Check for Windows Updates, Go to Settings > Windows Update and install any pending updates.

    >Test in Safe Mode. Boot into Safe Mode (hold Shift while clicking Restart > Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Settings > Restart > Press F4). If the touchscreen works in Safe Mode, a software conflict (like a third-party app) may be causing the issue.

    >Reset Windows. If nothing works, consider Reset This PC (Settings > Recovery > Reset PC > Keep my files).

If none of the above works, the touchscreen digitizer or its connection might be faulty. Contact Acer Support or a repair technician. Acer Support

I hope this helps! If this was useful, please hit 'Yes' or 'Like'! Thanks! 😊

It was greyed-out. Uninstalling, then restarting took care of it. Thanks.
