Acer Predator Triton 16 (PT16-51) laptop screen problem

Hi, my laptop has an issue where the display is malfunctioning.

This happened out of nowhere and I don't know what could've caused it. My laptop sits on a desk and it doesn't get moved from there. I'm also very careful when opening/closing the lid.

There's no damage on the screen (no cracks or scratches) and the laptop itself.

I've connected the laptop through an external display (a 10.1" raspberry pi screen) and it displays just fine. I can even play a videogame on it.

I've opened the bottom of the laptop and attached/reattached the display cable and the problem remains.

Is this a problem with the screen, display cable, or the motherboard of the laptop?

What else can I change to try to resolve this?

There may be several reasons for your laptop screen flickering: Loose or damaged cable connection: A faulty cable connecting the screen to the motherboard may cause flickering.
Outdated or incompatible drivers: If your computer’s display drivers are outdated or incompatible, it may lead to screen flickering issues.
Faulty screen or hardware: A faulty screen or internal hardware component can also cause flickering.
Overheating: Overheating the laptop can cause the screen flickering issue.
Software issues: Some software or apps may cause some problems, leading to screen flickering.

Incorrect refresh rate: An incorrect refresh rate setting may also result in a flickering screen issue.
You can start by checking your HDMI, Display-Port, or USB-C cables. Ensure that the cables are securely connected to both the monitor and the laptop. Make sure that the cable is fully tightened and it doesn’t look
or feel loose. This applies to all cable types, which can become loose for various reasons. Plug in your system to an external monitor to check if the issue reoccurs. If the problem does not occur on the external
display, it may be due to a hardware issue with the laptop’s screen.

Next is to make sure that the graphic card driver is update. Outdated drivers may cause incompatibility, leading to screen flickering problems. Regularly updating drivers ensures optimal performance and a
flicker-free experience. Also to note overheating can cause hardware issues so, routinely check your laptop’s temperature to ensure it is not overheating. Make sure you clean any dust or debris from the vents and fans to improve airflow.

    Hi Axxo,

Here's a list of things I tried to resolve the issue:

    1. Updated windows, installed all the recommended updates, and restarted - problem unresolved
    2. Uninstalled the display drivers for the Display Adapter and Monitor, restarted, and reinstalled drivers - problem unresolved.
    3. Uninstalled nvidia driver, restarted, and reinstalled driver -problem unresolved.
    4. Changed refresh rate to different frequencies - problem unresolved.
    5. Turned off laptop, opened the bottom, cleaned the display cable and port with cotton swab with isopropyl alcohol, and reinserted display cable - problem unresolved.
    6. Laptop is on top of Llano laptop cooler to decrease temps - problem unresolved

I haven't inspected the connection behind the screen. Would opening it void the warranty? My laptop's warranty is supposed to last until July 2025.
