Is there anybody using a PHN16-72 and facing performance issues?

I ran Cinebench 2024 for my RTX 4070 and got only 8793 Points as compared to the expected score of 11500. The maximum wattage my GPU intakes is just 45-50Watts even though it is on power and Turbo mode activated. The same is for the CPU, power intake is less hence performance is very less. Any solutions to this issue?

In his UserBenchmark score, it shows that the memory is 1x16GB RAM, which means there is a single 16GB module installed in the laptop, running in single-channel mode. @Vexital05

    1. Actually, your laptop has 2 RAM slots, not 4. Task Manager and other software tools might interpret the motherboard's configuration differently than what is physically available.
    2. Dual channel ram configuration help GPU utilisations and reduce cpu bottleneck which indeed improve GPU performance. Also, dual channel is must if you want to play games at higher fps and smoothly.
    3. You can download the CPU-Z software, then go to the SPD tab to check the RAM specs. Ensure that in SPD tab only one slot is occupied with a size shown as 16GB, which means it's running in single-channel mode. From here, you can also check the RAM specs and purchase another compatible 16GB RAM module. If you have trouble finding the specs, you can post a screenshot of the SPD tab here, and I will tell you which RAM to buy.

Your Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 is underperforming, likely due to power limitations or throttling, even with Turbo mode on.

Here's a breakdown of potential solutions:
To check and adjust power settings and Turbo Mode on your Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 (PHN16-72), you can access the PredatorSense software and navigate to the "Power" or "Performance" settings, where you can select Turbo Mode or other performance profiles.

Poor cooling can lead to thermal throttling, where the GPU and CPU reduce performance to prevent overheating. Ensure the laptop's vents are clear and the cooling system is functioning optimally.
Consider using a cooling pad or even opening the laptop to inspect the cooling system if you're comfortable doing so.

Download and install the latest NVIDIA drivers. Also update the BIOS firmware to v1.16 Predator PHN16-72

Some background software or drivers can interfere with performance. Ensure your drivers are up to date and that no unnecessary programs are running in the background. Perform a clean boot to disable any unnecessary startup programs and see if this improves performance.

I hope this helps! If this was useful, please hit 'Yes' or 'Like'! Thanks! 😊

Unfortunately none of the above solutions helped, even after using a cooling pad and a clean boot, the points just went up by ~500. Any other solutions to try?

I would only believe if it's underperforming or not by checking your laptop Userbenchmark. So, Download and run Userbenchmark then post result page link here

I'm using a PHN16-71-50JG which is the previous model and my laptop performs excellently with these ram and M.2 SSD upgrades and very speedily in gaming of all sorts with no problems.

Consider these upgrades for better gaming performance, upgrade the laptop to at least 32GB DDR5-5600MT/s CL46 type ram preferably 64GB with the same ram type and fit a speedy M.2 SSD like the Samsung 990 Pro NVMe + heatsink drive as all this will improve your gaming considerably. Good luck.

Yes, it's underperforming. You need dual channel ram. You need to buy another same specs 16GB ram for 16GB+16GB= 32GB dual channel

The Acer oem fitted ram to the PHN16-72 is at 2x 8GB DDR5-5600MT/s CL46 for a total of 16GB. Adding a 1x 16GB module type ram will not give a total of 32GB ram, it will increase to 24GB total with a 1x 8Gb and 1x 16GB modules which will also work. Its best to buy a 32GB kit at 2x 16GB DDR5-5600MT/s CL46 type ram or even upgrade to 64GB kit at 2x 32GB modules of the exact same ram specs.

Oh, okay so to reach the laptop's max performance the only thing i have to do is to upgrade the ram? Which will in turn boost the GPU?

Also if im not wrong its showing 1 of 4 slots used and 1x16GB which means there is one 16GB stick right? not 2x8GB

You can get the Kingston KVR56S46BS8-16 modules (16GB DDR5 5600MT/s Non-ECC Unbuffered SODIMM) were tested and use JEDEC standard latency DDR5-5600 timing of 46-45-45 at 1.1V). Here- KVR56S46BS8-16. Ensure you get laptop version and it is single channel 16GB ram.

As for SSD, score is not missing it's says Relative performance n/a - sequential test incomplete. It can be due to SSD cache feature. We get same error but everything is fine is our SSDs. Don't have to worry about this.
