Not all Acer Aspire 5 models come with a keyboard backlight. The availability of a backlit keyboard depends on the specific model and configuration. Some models may have an optional backlit keyboard, which can be activated using the FN + F9 keys if the F9 key has a backlight symbol, or FN + F10 for increasing light intensity in some cases12. However, many standard models do not include this feature8. If your Aspire 5 model does not have a backlight symbol on the F9 key, it likely does not have a backlit keyboard1.

To confirm whether your specific model has a backlit keyboard, you should check the specifications or look for the backlight symbol on the keyboard keys.

Hi check BIOS if there is a setting for KB backlight timeout

Often the F12 Key has a lamp or "A" sign with light on top.

If you don't see that light sign and there is no KB Backlight setting timeout in BIOS your KB probably has no backlight.

The keyboard isn't part of a laptop, so there won't be any BIOS specific features. It looks like, from an internet search, that the keyboard does not have a back light. We don't have detailed info on components like that direct from Acer.

Some Acer Aspire 5 models have a Keyboard backlight some are optional or don't have backlight, and Acer keyboards are also country dependent. If your F9 key has an "A" backlight symbol, then it has the optional extra cost backlit keyboard if not it is a standard keyboard without backlight.
