Acer Nitro 5 only has a yellow indicator light but won't turn on

When I press power on, the yellow light on the left indicator goes off immediately and the laptop still won't turn on

Any suggestions I can do to fix it? Thanks for any reply 🙏

Hi, is this a AN515-51 model from 2017? If so, the battery is probably depleted after 8 years, replace that first. If the battery was replaced or this is a newer model, try to do the Hard reset routine.

Power drain + CMOS reset: Open the back of the laptop and disconnect the battery cable from the motherboard. Locate the CMOS module (with 2 twisted wires Red and Black next to the battery, see picture) and remove the coin battery. Shorten the +/- terminals inside the CMOS capsule for 2 seconds with a bended paperclip and put the coin battery back with the + sign facing up, close the CMOS capsule. Next, press the Power Button on the keyboard for 10-15 seconds and unseat the RAM modules, if you have a spare SODIMM install that or replace the old RAM modules firmly in the slots, after that reconnect the battery cable to the motherboard. Close the laptop, plug-in the adapter and try to boot.

If your Acer Nitro 5 shows only a yellow indicator light but won't power on, try a hard reset by removing the battery and power cord, holding the power button for 30 seconds, and then reattaching everything.
Here's a more detailed breakdown of troubleshooting steps:-

    1. Hard Reset:
Unplug everything: Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery from your laptop.
Press and hold the power button: Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds to discharge any residual power.
Reattach and power on: Reinsert the battery, reconnect the power adapter, and try powering on the laptop.
    2. Check the Power Source:
Test the power adapter: Ensure the power adapter is working correctly by trying it with another device or a known good adapter.
Check the power outlet: Make sure the outlet is providing power by testing it with another device.
    3. Battery Issues:
Check battery health: If the laptop only powers on with the adapter plugged in, the battery might be faulty.
Try a different battery: If possible, try using a known good battery to see if the issue persists.
    4. BIOS/EC Reset (Advanced):
If the hard reset doesn't work, you might need to perform a BIOS/EC reset.
Locate the RTC/BIOS battery: This is a small coin-cell battery on the motherboard.
Disconnect the RTC/BIOS battery: Remove the battery and short the + and - pins on the mainboard plug with a metal flathead screwdriver.
Leave the laptop disconnected: Leave the laptop disconnected for 15 minutes to an hour to allow the EC chip to reset.
Reconnect everything: Reconnect the RTC/BIOS battery and all other components.
    5. Other Potential Issues:
RAM issues: If the hard reset and BIOS/EC reset fail, the RAM might be faulty.
Faulty EC chip: The EC chip, which controls power functions, could also be faulty.
Main power rail problem: A problem in the main power rail could also prevent the laptop from powering on.
